International Olympic AcademyMunicipality of Ancient OlympiaHellenic Olympic Committee and Thessaloniki Olympic Museum, with the participation of the entire Olympic family, organize 8km, 4km & 1.5km Running Races under the following conditions:

3.1 1.500 m Running and Power Walking Race

Starting Time: 19:00

Route Description

Starting point in front of the Town Hall of Ancient Olympia on Praxiteles Kondylis Street street heading southeast towards the Archaeological site, making a U-turn at the height of the Ancient Stadium on the provincial road and in the opposite direction, heading towards Ancient Olympia to finish at the Town Hall of the Municipality of Ancient Olympia.

 

3.2 8.000 m Road Race

Starting Time: 19:30

Route Description

Start in front of the Town Hall of Ancient Olympia, on Praxiteles Kondylis Street, with direction southwest and at the end of the road right, uphill, in front of the offices of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Elis, turn left toward the riverbed of the Alfeios River, route around the Archaeological Site and the stadium, with exit at the level of the facilities of the International Olympic Academy, course left on the provincial road with direction toward Ancient Olympia, continuation toward the Town Hall of Ancient Olympia on Praxiteles Kondylis Street, with direction southwest and at the end of the road right, uphill, in front of the offices of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Elis, turn left toward the riverbed of the Alfeios River, route around the Archaeological Site and the stadium, with exit at the level of the facilities of the International Olympic Academy, course left on the provincial road with direction toward Ancient Olympia and finish at the Town Hall of Ancient Olympia.

3.3 4.000 m Road Race

Starting Time: 19:30

Route Description

Start in front of the Ancient Olympia Town Hall, on Praxiteles Kondylis Street, heading southwest, and at the end of the road turn right, uphill, in front of the offices of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Elis, turn left toward the bank of the Alfeios River, follow the route around the Archaeological Site and the Stadium, exit at the level of the facilities of the International Olympic Academy, proceed left on the provincial road heading toward Ancient Olympia and finish at the Ancient Olympia Town Hall.

  1. PARTICIPATION 

In order to participate in the 8 km Road Race, participants must have reached the age of 16, while for the 4 km Road Race, they must have reached the age of 12.

In the 1.5 Km race, runners of all ages can participate.

In case of underage runners, registering individually, it is mandatory to submit a formal Declaration of Consent signed by either the parent or legal guardian who consents to the participation of the minor in the race, according to the content of the above statement. The person registered as “Participation Responsible” has the exclusive parental responsibility of minors.

In case of group registrations of high schools, clubs, associations, etc. entities, the person registered as “Group Responsible” is having full responsibility of the custody and full responsibility of the minors in his group, on all matters, including their safety, except in the case of minors whose parent participates in the Competition and presents the Responsible Declaration of a Guardian, in which he undertakes the safety of his children. For the registration of groups of minors in the Race, the “Group Responsible” must submit the status of the participants with an official document of the specific organization he represents (school, club, etc.), on which it is noted that he is authorized by the organization as “Group Responsible” in the Competition. In order to receive the equipment, the “Group Registration Responsible” of minors must provide the Responsible Declarations of Consent of the parents/guardians of all minor runners, in order for the participation of the children in the race, while he is responsible for the coordination of the team in what regarding her participation in the Competition and informing her about the terms of participation in it.

5.4 RACE EQUIPMENT DELIVERY

The delivery will take place at the Town Hall of the Municipality of Ancient Olympia on Saturday June 13th, 12:00-14:00.

6.REGISTRATIONS 

6.1 1 REGISTRATION TYPES

Α. INDIVIDUAL ADULT

 

Β. INDIVIDUAL UNDERAGE

In the case of underage runners, the registered “Participation Responsible” has the parental responsibility of the minor/s. By giving his/her consent, the “Participation Responsible” agrees with the minors’ participation in the race and declares his/her parental responsibility in the consent document.

  1. GROUPS

Available for a group of 8 and over willing to participate in the same race. The group-type registration refers to sport clubs,runners’ clubs,gyms,companies,private and public organizations, as well as to individuals wishing to participate as a group. The age limit of the runners of the team is defined by the requirements of each race as defined in this notice. In the Group registration, the person registered as  “Group Responsible” represents the group in all communication with the organizers and receives the groups’ race equipment by displaying his/her identification card. 

The person registered as “Group Responsible ” must provide the declarations of consent signed by the parents or legal guardians of the underage runners, with their consent to the participation of the children in the race, and the list of participating runners with an official document if they represent a specific organization (school, club, etc.). The person registered as “Group Responsible” bears sole responsibility for the custody of the minors in the group in all matters, including their safety, unless the parent participates in the Competition and presents the Responsible Guardian Declaration by which he undertakes the safety of the children.

 

6.2 PARTICIPATIONS FEE

8Km RACE.

Only participants over 16 years old may enter the race

Individual Registration: 10 €

Group  Registration (over 8 people): 7 €

4Km RACE

The race is intended for adults and teenagers aged over 12.

Includes Electronic chip timing, Participation Number, Commemorative Medal, Water, Juice, Medical Services, Electronic Certificate of Participation, Electronic Certificate of Participation, Printed Certificate of Participation in the World Celebration of the International Olympic Day by the Hellenic and International Olympic Committees.

Individual Registration: 7 €

Group  Registration (over 8 people): 5  €

1.5Km RACE

The Running Race concerns all ages, (minors, adults, families and group registrations of schools, sports clubs and clubs).

Includes Electronic chip timing, Participation Number, Commemorative Medal, Water, Juice, Medical Services, Electronic Certificate of Participation, Electronic Certificate of Participation, Printed Certificate of Participation in the World Celebration of the International Olympic Day by the Hellenic and International Olympic Committees.

Individual Registration: 3 €

Group  Registration (over 8 people): 2 €  Participation for schools is free of charge.

The participation fee for the 1.5K race will be donated to a charitable cause of an association of the Municipality of Ancient Olympia.

The race commemorative T-shirt is not included in the participation packages. Runners have the option to select commemorative items (T-shirt, cap, bag) separately during registration.

ATTENTION: Refunds – Cancellation Policy: Cancellation of registration is done with a fee of 3 euros and only if the refund request is not made later than Monday June 1st. No refunds will be made for registrations made from Monday June 1st onwards. A service invoice is only issued if requested in time and in this case the additional payment of VAT is required, in accordance with the current Greek legislation.

 

  1. DINSTINCTIONS-AWARDS

8.1 DINSTINCTIONS-AWARDS

All runners who participate and finish the 8km, 4 km and 1.5 km races will receive a commemorative medal and a certificate of participation from the International Olympic Committee.

 

In the 8 km Race, winners will be announced as follows:
Overall Classification: The first three (3) registered men and the first three (3) registered women.

In the 4 km Race, winners will be announced as follows:

Overall Classification: The first three (3) registered men and the first three (3) registered women.

Age Category Awards: The first three (3) registered boys aged 12–18 and the first three (3) registered girls aged 12–18. 

In the 1.5 km Race, winners will be announced as follows:

Overall Classification: The first (1) registered male runner and the first (1) registered female runner.

Age Category Awards: The first three (3) registered boys aged 12–18 and the first three (3) registered girls aged 12–18, and the first three (3) registered boys aged 6–12 and the first three (3) registered girls aged 6–12.

* The overall classification includes all ages in each race.

** Winners of the overall classification are excluded from the age categories.

Electronic Certificate of Participation

The participants who will finish the 8Km, 4Km and 1.5Km Races, will have the possibility to print their Electronic Certificate of Participation, through the special application of the web portal of the Organization www.olympicdayrun.gr..

 

8.2 Special Awards

Upon decision of the Organizing Committee, special awards will be granted to the following categories:

  • Largest School Participation (Highest Number of Team Entries)
  • Largest Participation by a Sports or Cultural Association (Highest Number of Team Entries)
  1. MEDICAL SERVICES

All runners participate at their own risk. Race organizers are not to be held responsible for any medical condition, which may occur during the course or after the race. It is recommended that runners do medical screening tests prior to the race. Adult runners participate in their own sole initiative and responsibility, while underage runners on their parent’s or legal guardian’s responsibility and formal consent, having done all the necessary medical screenings and cardiac controls.

During the race, Medical Services and First Aid personnel will be present at the start-finish area and at selected points along the route, to deal with any medical emergency with the provision of First Aid.

  1. TECHNICAL GUIDELINES

SUPPORT STATIONS

Bottled water will be available at the start and the finish of the race. Medical support will be available at the start/finish and along the course of the race route.

KILOMETER MARKERS

There will be kilometer markers at every kilometer of the route. 

FINISHING TIME LIMIT 

– for the 8Km Road Race, the time limit is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

– for the 4Km Road Race, it is 1hour

– for the 1.5Km Road Race it is 20 minutes 

ELECTRONIC TIME SYSTEM 

The electronic timing for the 5th ‘Olympic Day Run’ in Ancient Olympia is managed by an official timing company. All runners in the 8 km, 4 km, and 1.5 km races must wear their race number with the integrated timing chip, which they will receive at the Registration Center. Electronic timing mats will be placed at the start, the finish, and at points along the course to record times. Runners without electronic timing will not be classified.
